It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Finally I have sometime to sit down and type! Work is crazy busy and I am so tired I can't see straight. Last weekend was great. We went to the Music City Marathon and watched Tiffany and Kenzi run the half marathon. The downfall was the downpour we encountered, but it was so worth it. Then Tiff and Derek spent the night and Tiff and I got to go baby shower shopping! Lindsey's shower is this weekend. On Sunday night I tried adding a new element to my workouts, Jillian Micheal's 30 day Shred. I am pretty sure I died for a minute during the workout. I have decided that for now I am going to slowly implement it in on the days that I don't run. Work is hectic and crazy and I want to take a mental health day so bad. Hopefully this weekend will bring me some much needed rest and relaxation. I am going on my first long run (4 miles) tomorrow with Tiffany friend after the baby shower. I am going to work hard at having a good weekend.

Overbooked

So work has been crazy lately. I can only get 11 new cases a month. Last month I got 11 and so far for this month I am at 9. I am on call 2 more days this month. Right now I am sitting at 17 cases (2 have been submitted to close and I have 1 more to turn in today though). I have not had a case load this high since September last year. It seems that a lot of these cases have come in during the last 2 weeks. All this leads to the need to schedule meetings with families. I am usually really good at not over scheduling myself, however I have failed at doing so this week and next. Today is the only day that I am working a regularly scheduled day. On Friday I am having to flex out time, but am on-call Friday night so it may not matter. All of this is an issue and a stress because our home is a home of early birds. TJ is at work most days between 6:30 and 7 and I try to be at work between 7 and 7:30. We are both off by 4:00. This week however I am not able to go in until 9 or 9:30 so that I am able to work later. Hopefully this will all end at the end of the month and I will have my case load back to 10 or less.
Tonight, however, I am leaving work at 4! I am going home fixing dinner and then meeting at least 1 friend to see a movie. I have not had a girls' night to the movies in what seems like forever (it was November). Usually the girls and I watch movies with the boys or are watching them at home on Netflix. All of that is great, but it will be nice to go to a movie and not have the boys poking fun or saying it is stupid. Tonight I will leave work without a file in my car or worrying about a case. Tonight will be a stress free night.

What have I done!

So this is a blog that focuses more on my life in general. To follow my adoption journey check out my other blog: http://hseabrooks.blogspot.com/. For anyone that doesn't know me or what it is that I do I am currently working for the Department of Children's Services as a Child Abuse Investigator. So as you may imagine I have a stressful job and over the last 2 years I have re-learned that the best way to deal with my stress is by working out. I workout at Curves (great way to burn quick calories!) and have recently decided to start jogging/running. My wonderful friend Tiffany, check her blog out http://halfmarathontrainee.blogspot.com/ is currently training for the Music City Half Marathon and is loving it. She sent me a message last week and asked if I would be interested in doing a half marathon in September with her. I said yes! I am not sure what I have done, but I am really excited. I officially paid the registration fee today, have gotten a training calendar and started buying equipment (i.e. sports bra, shoes, the Nike Plus chip). I am going this weekend because through this beginning process of starting I have realized that I need some tank tops and pants ( all my shorts are to baggy and ride up). I have not been this committed to something in a long time. Pretty sure the last time was when I was on my health kick in 2004. Then I bought workout DVDs the crunch ball, gym membership and worked out 2 hours a day. So far I am just working on running/jogging more then walking, but am starting the training calendar Monday. My goal is 13.1 miles in 2 1/2 hours or less.
So this blog will be about my training, about my adventures and my life in general.
